The Akkeshi Distillery is located in Akkeshi, Hokkaido, Japan. It is one of the newer distilleries in Japan, having been established in 2016.
The Akkeshi Usui is a blended whisky, which means it is a combination of different malt and grain whiskies. The exact recipe and proportions of the blend are not publicly available.
The whisky has been aged in a combination of bourbon, sherry, and mizunara casks. Bourbon casks impart vanilla and caramel flavors, sherry casks add fruity and nutty notes, and mizunara casks contribute unique spicy and sandalwood characteristics.
