Hampden Estate Pagos Ex Sherry Cask 52° 70cl

Hampden is proud to present their very first rum which has been fully matured in 1st fill American Oak ex-sherry casks!

These particular barrels have previously been used to mature Oloroso Pata de Gallina and PX sherries. The barrels come from the renowned Sherry producer Bodegas Lustau where they were used for a minimum of 3 years.

After this, the beautiful barrels found their way to Jamaica where Hampden welcomed them with open arms. The name 'Pagos' is an ode to these exceptional barrels as the name comes from the Spanish word used to describe vineyards in the Jerez area.

The fruity and high ester profile of Hampden matches the influences of the ex-sherry casks perfectly. The aromas blend beautifully together to produce a delicious rum as a result.

Color: Copper colored with green glints.

Nose: Rich aromas come to you immediately. You can first discover aromas of olives, toasted walnuts, blood oranges, white flowers and cherries. After this, the scents of raisins, dates and coffee liqueur emerge more strongly. The aroma can be described as the perfect interplay between rum and sherry.

Mouth: Strong flavors of sugarcane and sugarcane honey flow into your palette of flavors. Tropical flowers, vanilla and cocoa beans quickly join the flavor. True connoisseurs will also be able to notice spicy notes combined with coffee and tropical fruits.

Finish: Long and dynamic aftertaste in which the aromas of sugar cane, coconut milk and honeysuckle come forward. Finish with flavors of tobacco, lime trees and roses. Thanks to the sherry barrels, your empty glass will smell deliciously of walnuts and dried grapes.
